CRUSADE- CeRebellUm aS eArly marker of neuroDEgenerative disorders
For centuries, the role of the cerebellum has been relegated to coordination and control of voluntary movement, gait, and posture. Only recently scientific attention has been directed to the fascinating hypothesis that this organ plays a role in cognition.
CRUSADE is conceived with the ambition of highlighting the importance of the cerebellum in the context of neurological disorders and neuropsychological syndromes in which its involvement is traditionally overlooked if not entirely ignored.
CRUSADE is born with the primary aim of investigating the role of the cerebellum as an early marker of neurodegenerative diseases. However, the innovation and potential of CRUSADE have prompted several researchers from the University of Padua to join the project, enriching it with advanced and highly multidisciplinary theoretical and methodological specificities.
“Are we looking in the right place?” is the ambitious, ground-breaking and provocative suggestion that CRUSADE, as a research group, aspires to convey to the scientific and clinical community, in order to unravel the fascinating “cerebellum enigma”.
